Your community: support for epilepsy patients, families & loved ones

At Brain Buddy, we strive to empower, connect, and support epilepsy patients, families, carers, and friends navigating the epilepsy surgery journey across the UK.

Through sharing resources, lived experiences, and expert guidance, we help you feel informed, connected, and cared for every step of the way.

Our Story

Brain Buddy was founded in 2017 by Lisa Upton, a former patient at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. After undergoing epilepsy surgery herself, Lisa recognised the need for a supportive community for patients facing similar journeys. In 2018, she shared her personal experience at Queen Square, and this powerful moment led to the formation of a collaborative network involving patients, neurologists, neurosurgeons, and neuropsychologists at the hospital.

What We Do

Since our first talk in 2017, Brain Buddy has grown into a vibrant and supportive community. We offer a variety of events and resources tailored to meet the needs of patients and their loved ones

The National Brain Appeal

Brain Buddy sits within the National Brain Appeal charity, the supporting charity for the National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery. Brain Buddy are committed to supporting both current and past patients, as well as their families and friends, throughout their journey with epilepsy surgery.
